Thesis topic

Étude et développement d’un procédé métrologiquement assisté pour l’usinage multiaxes : vers une assistance métrologique par jumeau numérique de machine-outils multi-axes

Abstract

The subject of this doctoral thesis focuses on the development of a metrology-assisted process for multi-axis machining, with the aim of integrating a digital twin as a metrological support for multi-axis machine tools. The manufacturing of complex-shaped parts, essential in sectors such as aerospace, automotive, and advanced tooling manufacturing, involves numerous steps and interactions, each generating potential errors that affect the dimensional and geometric accuracy of the final product.

The objective of this thesis is to improve the accuracy and reliability of the manufacturing process by:

  • Identifying and modeling the geometric, thermal, and dynamic errors of multi-axis machine tools.
  • Developing an innovative hardware standard to ensure traceability and measurement accuracy under real machining conditions.
  • Implementing a digital twin to simulate and correct machining errors by integrating thermo-elasto-geometric behaviors.
  • Experimentally validating these approaches using advanced optical systems and comparing the results with the latest techniques.

This research, conducted within the framework of the European project EMPIR 23IND12-ADAM, will contribute to improving in-process measurement accuracy and correcting machining errors in real-time. The results obtained will help reduce the gap between design and manufacturing, thus promoting innovation in Industry 4.0 environments.
