Development of a new generation of ultra-hard coatings. Study of their tribological and corrosion behavior

The current needs of the mechanical industries are growing in terms of resistant materials in hard conditions. Thus, coatings are used particularly to improve the life of cutting tools. In this context, the aim of this PhD project is to develop a coating which has a good resistance to wear and corrosion for wood cutting tools. Monolayer coatings based on chromium nitride were proposed to be studied with different systems (binary, ternary and quaternary) and mechanical, tribological and structural analyses are processed. Also, our goal is to develop multi-layer and superlattices coatings combining different properties of the monolayer coatings.
